How
it all started ....
The first seven
festivals were called "International Youth choir
Festival". The 1st festival was
organised in 1986 to celebrate the 12½ anniversary of youth choir "Combokoor Veldhoven". It became such a success, that it was decided
to make it a 3-yearly event. The Foundation
IYF was founded, which would in future
organize the festival in cooperation with the choir.
Unfortunately, Combokoor Veldhoven decided to discontinue its activities in
2003, but it was agreed to continue the organisation of the festival!
In 2006 we decided to somewhat change our course and to focus on a wider
audience than just youth choirs. We therefore changed the name of the festival in "Voices
Unlimited".
The foundation
The foundation consists of approx.
20 volunteers who organize the festival
in their free time. During the festival weekend itself we of course need a
bigger group of people in order to make the event a success. Fortunately, we can
count on many enthusiastic volunteers who are willing to help us each time
the festival takes place!
